Dr. Malathi Acharya MD
I am an excellent clinician. Everything begins here.
Hello, my name is Dr. Malathi and I want to welcome you to Ayur Integrative Medicine, a healing space for you. You have come here, trusting me with your concerns about your health. I will listen to your experiences, concerns and needs. I will give you my time and energy, and together we will come up with a plan that will be the best for you. I will be your guide in this journey.
Medical literacy started at a very early age for me as I come from a family of doctors. My mother was a General Practitioner and I grew up watching her treat her patient’s ailments and guide them in many other aspects of life that they would seek her counsel on. She was not only their physician, but also their guide.
The Foundations of Our Health lie in our daily choices.
I have worked for over 25 years in the traditional Allopathic system, initially as a hospital based specialist and then as a primary care physician. I found the Allopathic system to be principally disease and medication based. I believe, however, that there needs to be room to harness the innate potential of our bodies to heal than what western form of medicine allows.
What I found is that people were eager to learn what they could do naturally to help their condition and there was nothing I could offer. Also, one size does not fit all. I believed in individualized plans for everyone based on their unique needs. That started my journey towards by new goal. During the pandemic, I started and finished a Fellowship program in Integrative Medicine at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. This was an empowering journey for me where I learnt the things I needed to do to become, and stay healthy. And this helped me continue to care for my patients during the Covid pandemic without burning out. I believe that Integrative Medicine is where health and life intersect.
